Double U-Turn

I have had a whirlwind couple of days.  I scrambled up my life, only to come out sunny side up again.

I went to a job interview on Monday and was offered the job on the spot.  It was a good 35 hours a week as a hotel receptionist.  I was overwhelmed and excited to get the job but I said yes and decided to figure out the rest of the details later.  Wednesday morning I woke up at 5am, packed my life into my backpack, got dressed in full business casual for work, moved my stuff from one hostel to another hostel (that's my 4th hostel in Wellington), and then went to work at 7am.  I then worked for 8 hours straight with no break.  The atmosphere at the job was not pleasant.  The first day on the job is always stressful and hard but that shouldn't be made worse by an unwelcoming boss.  The hardest thing about being a backpacker is that every decision I make feels like it's life and death.  Do I treat myself to a 4 dollar cronut when I don't have a job?  Do I stay in Wellington when South Island weather is better in the summer?  Do I take a crappy job, suck it up, get paid, and then move on?  Bottom line any decision is a good one when you're traveling.  The whole country is gorgeous and there are great people everywhere.  That being said, I did not accept the position and will continue with my plan to go to SOUTH ISLAND!!!

A lot of backpackers start their travels in Wellington.  So, I met tons of people who had a million questions for me about North Island.  I hadn't realized how much I'd learned about this country.  It was really rewarding to advise others and to explain to them how the country operates.   I've truly seen it all when it comes to North Island and I am so proud of my journey these last 4 months!
