Blue Duck Station

After New Years I hopped back on the Stray bus.  Our first stop was Blue Duck Station.  It's a farm that produces both beef and wool, while also conserving the New Zealand bush and animals.  It's named after the famous NZ blue duck (it's a blue duck haha).  There were a lot of activities to do but I didn't feel like paying 170 dollars to go kayaking sooooooo I went on a couple free hikes around the area with some friends from the bus.  The first hike was extremely difficult, might be the most challenging hike I've ever done.  We climbed up rocks, swung from branches, and scaled narrow paths with steep hillside on each side.   In the end we hiked up and down 5 mountain ridges and the view was totally worth it!!!!

Staying at Blue Duck also meant no cell service or wifi for 2 days!

So Blue Duck Station is in the Whakahoro area.  Whakahoro is already a funny word because it looks like it says Whack-A-Whore-O, BUT it's even funnier if you know Maori.  The Maori language pronounces WH with an F sound.  So the correct way to pronounce Whakahoro is Fuck-A-Whore-O.
