Cat and I did a 3 day trek through the jungle!
But first we had a 14 hour train trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
In the back of the truck on our way to the jungle!
But first let me see some elephants!
Some people are very against riding elephants. We did some research and decided that if they were treated well and we're in good health it would be okay to ride them. We ride horses, people ride camels in the middle east and Asia has elephants. Our elephant was name Nimloy!
Rice Paddies
This is Arm. He guided us through the jungle for 3 days. He taught us everything he knew about the area, killed snakes, cooked dinner, drank beer, played games, and even stayed up at night to make sure the Tigers didn't get us... or something. He wor ked really hard and we were very appreciative of his expertise.
Look at these smiling faces. Little did they know they had 3 days of hiking in the heat, sleeping on dirt floors, showering in waterfalls, and many questionable bathrooms ahead of them!
Our first hut was next to a waterfall! After 2.5 hours of hiking in 90 degree weather plus humidity, believe me we needed a waterfall shower.
Arm and his lunch.
Arm's arm... and a spider
He never stopped moving!
Super tall Lex and Arm on stilts haha
Some vertical pics won't flip no matter how hard I try
Camp 2
Another waterfall shower!
Mosquito nets!
The whole gang! 2 Dutchies, 2 Swedes, 2 Brits and then of course Team North America!
All done hiking! Hopped in the back of a truck on our way to bamboo rafting!
We rafted for an hour through the jungle on bamboo rafts. Our group almost skipped this activity because we were all so tired, but I'm glad we didn't! It was blast floating down the river seeing snakes, elephants, and a couple monks.
Finally made it back to Chiang Mai! After we showreed off we went straight to dinner. I had Tom Yum Gai and fries... because yolo.
