Skiing in July

I've been looking forward to skiing in NZ for months and it finally happened!  After growing up so close to the snow I like to think I've got some ski skills.  However, I hadn't ski'd in a good 8 years, so I was definitely nervous.  Turns out it's just like riding a bike!  The snow was decent and I got 8 runs in before the wind picked up.

Skiing in NZ is very different than back home.  What's the biggest difference you ask?  No trees... none.  Also, I went on the largest mountain in NZ and it only had 2 chair lifts.  I wasn't disappointed but I'm glad I chose the ski field that I did.  This experience really made me miss Mt.Rose and the runs I know so well.

Here are some sideways mountain parrots... otherwise known as Keas.  These birds are crazy!  They attack cars and eat anything... I mean anything.  I sat in the lodge and watch 5 fight over a pair of mittens.

My reward for a hard days work!
