I finally got the opportunity to visit Almer Hut. It's something most locals talk about, but not all have done it because the timing has to be perfect. Not only does the weather need to be good but it needs to be good on your weekend AND there has to be the right amount of people booked on the Heli-Hike so that they need 2 helicopter flights to the ice. This weekend was my absolute last chance to try to get to Almer Hut and I was sooooo lucky everything worked out perfectly!!!

ANNNNNND... Aunt Susan found this picture of Grandma June and Grandpa Mark McMahon on the Franz Josef Glacier in 1971!! I promptly showed the picture to everyone at work and they thought it was as cool as I did. It's truly amazing that 44 years ago my grandparents visited the glacier I know and love now.
